Regulators Engage in a Virtual Dialogue with Financial Services Agency, Japan
On November 30, 2021, the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and FSA met virtually for the 15th biannual Insurance Regulatory Dialogue. Participants from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ leadership included David Altmaier, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ President and Commissioner, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation; Dean L. Cameron, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ President-Elect and Director, Idaho Department of Insurance; Director Chlora Lindley-Myers, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Vice President and Director, Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance; Andrew N. Mais, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Secretary-Treasurer and Commissioner, Connecticut Insurance Department; Gary D. Anderson, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ International Insurance Committee Chair and Commissioner of the Massachusetts Division of Insurance; and, Michael F. Consedine, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The dialogue provided regulators from two of the largest insurance markets in the world to discuss strategic priorities on issues of mutual regulatory interest. The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ provided updates on a variety of its initiatives, including climate and resilience, innovation and technology, the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ liquidity stress testing, reinsurance, long-term care insurance, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), and other priorities for the organization in 2022.
About the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ
As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ (Ï㽶ÊÓƵ) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
